*NOTE: there will be NO CLASSES the week of July 2nd; tuition in technique classes will not be prorated for missed classes or vacations; minimum enrollment required; classes may be combined or discontinued

"Weekender" Dance Camps
These camps offer students the opportunity to learn various forms of dance in a fun and energetic environment!  Appropriate for all dance levels
Camps are in session Wednesday through Friday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. with an informal performance on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Cost: $40 per camp

Hip Hop and Funk (ages 6+): June 6 - 8
Broadway Bound (age 9+): June 20- 22
Acro and Tap (age 6+): July 18 - 20
Rev Dance Performance Camp (age 4+): August 1 - 3
    *This last camp will have the opportunity to perform with Rev It UP! at RMPBS FunFest on August 11th at Lincoln Park

 

                                                                   REV It UP!  Performance Company

Join our Triple Threat performance company for ages 4 – adult with a dance and musical theatre focus.  Participants will receive intense training and performance opportunities throughout the summer.  This one-of-a-kind intense training is for anyone that would like to become a true triple threat performer!  All ages and levels of dancers are welcome.
NOTE: performance opportunities may be limited for new members when they initially join due to the timing of the performances

Tuesdays from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

NOTE: some classes may be combined if they do not have minimum enrollment and/or split if needed based on levels; It is recommended that students in Primary Dance Technique program take a minimum of (2) classes per week to strengthen their technique and progress as a dancer.  The schedule accommodates some blocking of various techniques within a dance age group to allow for easier scheduling for families.



 

                                                                       Performance Opportunities

Dancers will have various OPTIONAL performance opportunities throughout the year that may require additional fees. 

FALL:
All dance students are invited to participate in performance opportunities in the Fall.  Information will be given as the semester progresses and participation is optional.

SPRING: All dance classes will perform with their classes in our year-end Dance Showcase scheduled for weekend of May 30th, 2019 at Grand Junction High School Auditorium; students will be required to pay additional fees for costumes if they chose to participate

Dance With Me: This class is a parent/tot class that stresses developing enjoyment of music and movement while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility through structured class formats.

Dancing Fairytales, Rumble in the Jungle, PreBallet: These classes stress developing enjoyment of music and movement as well as an introduction to beginning ballet and jazz technique.  Students will learn fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility through structured class formats and creative movement techniques; themed classes will also include props that students will be able to take home with them

Pre-Ballet/Jazz: This class stresses developing enjoyment of music and movement as well as an introduction to beginning ballet and jazz  technique.  Students will learn fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility through structured class formats and creative movement techniques.

Ballet and Tap Combo: This class is an introduction to fundamentals of ballet & tap teaching basic skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination. It allows students to explore two dance genres and help determine which style to transition to in leveled classes.

Funk and Rhythm: This class is a high energy, fun, keep 'em moving class that will introduce kids to dance.  Classes will focus on large motor muscles, body awareness, finding beats and rhythms in music, self-expression and building confidence and having fun through dance

Hip Hop/Tap: This class is a fast paced combination class that will focus on learning and performing fun, athletic, skillful, safe and entertaining tricks and routines utilizing the fundamentals of tap, hip hop and acrobatics. This class will have additional performance opportunities throughout the year with Rev It UP!

Ballet and Tap/Jazz Combo: This class is an introduction to fundamentals of jazz or tap & ballet teaching basic skills, terminology, rhythm, and coordination.   It allows students to explore two dance genres and help determine which style to transition to in leveled classes. 

Ballet: These classes will continue to strengthen and extend ballet technique and terminology. They will focus primarily on the development of classical ballet technique that is paramount for the development of all styles of dance. Students will continue to learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance and flexibility through more advanced barre and center work combinations. Students will gain a more thorough understanding of anatomy and kinetics and how these relate to the movement of their bodies in dance.

Pointe: This class is an extension class for intermediate and advanced ballet students with a focus on preparing to dance en pointe including pulled up muscles, engaged core, strong feet and ankle, and proper body placement.  Instructor permission is required to register in this class and not all students will use pointe shoes (at the discretion of the instructor).  

Jazz: These classes allow dancers to gain and expand their knowledge of the different styles and forms of jazz technique. Each class will include a thorough warm-up that focuses on stretching/flexibility, conditioning/toning of the body, isolations, and basic technique and terminology.  Progressions across the floor and combinations are the premise of jazz technique and combinations and incorporate various turns/jumps/leaps, isolations, and improving performance quality.  

Tap:  These classes are designed to focus on rhythm, coordination, and tap terminology at appropriate levels.  Classes will continue to broaden the students tap vocabulary while moving beyond the fundamentals of tap.  Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Higher level classes will challenge the student to focus on faster and more intricate footwork and continue to clean and refine their tap skills.  The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute complex rhythmic combinations.  

Modern: These classes focus on the development of core strength and flexibility using modern dance technique for all levels of dancers.  Students will be challenged to develop body awareness, spatial awareness, and beginning vocabulary of modern dance.

Contemporary: These classes will utilize a combination of modern and ballet techniques to interpret music through movement; more time will be spent on composition and progressions with less emphasis on perfecting technique  

Hip Hop:  This is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking while allowing students to bring their own individual style and personality to the movements.  Combinations will focus on rhythm, musicality and coordination using age-appropriate hip hop choreography and music.  This class will help dancers develop focus, strength, and agility.   Students will be challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. 

Dance Technique for Performance (Variations): This class focuses on choreography and the techniques that will enhance a dancers ability to perform in a formal setting; emphasis will be placed on projection and performing through full-body dance technique.

Poms: This class is designed to introduce dancers to the basics of jazz technique while also including the sharp movement and visual effects of working with pom poms!  Class format will include a warm-up and stretches, jazz, kickline, turns and leaps, and basic Pom technique with a focus on sharp and correct execution of motions.  Overall, this will be a fun and energetic class, ok for all levels!

Barre Fitness

This class is designed to strengthen and lengthen using the principles of ballet as the foundation.  A variety of barre-inspired exercises will focus on isometric training using a variety of equipment for targeted muscle work while enjoying this fun workout class.  No dance experience is required.

Pilates
:  This class is designed to strengthen and lengthen using the principles of pilates as the foundation.  A variety of exercises will focus on isometric training using a variety of equipment for targeted muscle work while enjoying this fun workout class.  No dance experience is required.




                                                                   
                                                                                 Dress Code for Dance Classes

A dress code ensures that a teacher will be able to see a dancer’s alignment and positioning to allow for corrections for student growth and safety.   Pink or light-colored tights also make the lines of the legs visible. A dress code also helps teach students discipline and enhances overall focus and energy of dancers. By "dressing the part," dancers feel like dancers



Young Dancers Program:

Girls: Leotard and tights with ballet/jazz/tap shoes or bare feet – dance skirts and attached leo/skirts are acceptable; hair needs to be pulled up and out of face

Boys: clothes that allow for movement and ballet/jazz/tap shoes or bare feet

 

Primary Technique Dance Program: No jeans, dresses, or skirts are allowed in any dance class

Ballet: solid colored leotard and tights; ballet shoes; hair pulled back and secured

Jazz: leotard or tight fitting tank and dance pants, shorts, or tights; jazz shoes, foot thongs, or bare feet; hair secured

Tap: tap shoes, comfortable clothing that allows for movement

Boys in Ballet and Jazz: Solid colored tank top; above the knee athletic shorts or dance pants; appropriate shoes

Hip Hop: clothes that allow for movement and clean tennis shoes/dance shoes (jeans are not allowed)

Modern: leotard or tight fitting tank; dance pants, shorts, or tights; hair pulled back and secured; appropriate footing

Core Technique Discount Package Program:  Dancers enrolled in our core program take a designated package of classes at a discounted rate; students enrolled in this program may be given additional workshop and performance opportunities throughout the year based on their particular level; it is recommended that students take ballet and jazz as fundamental classes – other classes are dancers choice 
       
Core 1: $95 per month and includes (3) classes per week; additional classes may be taken for $25 per class per month   
      Core 2: $140 per month and includes (5) classes per week; additional classes may be taken for $20 per class per month   
             

Registration is required for minimum of one month; tuition is based on the 35-week session and will be billed at a consistent monthly rate exclusive of actual weeks in an individual month; tuition will not be prorated for missed classes but each student will be allowed (2) makeup classes options each semester; students registering in the middle of a month will have their tuition prorated; minimum enrollment required for all classes – classes may be combined and/or split  if necessary.
